She kisses me softly as she plans to leave.
darkness from the chilly night swallows my front porch
the breeze flows over her skin and into my nose
the smell of her is better then any that exists
she smells of shelter.
she smells of warmth
she smells of home.
my arms surround her waist.
her fingers brush through my hair as she smiles
she has always preffered it to be messy.
i have always kept it down despite her wishes
so she never loses reason to touch it.
we laugh without words. we are joyful in love.
This is my favorite part of our days spent together.
Right before she is about to leave.
knowing this my feelings for her are even more exposed.
i squeeze tight and kiss hard.
i must let her know she is loved before she goes.
A small effort in case she does not return to me.
We walk to her car. holding hands while we shiver.
My oversized hand devouers her small dainty fingers.
in the moon light her beauty is almost unfathomable
she is perfect in every single way according to my eyes.
i open her door and help her into the car.
i know she is fully capable of doing this herself
but i strive to ressurect the spirit of chivalry.
i shut the door and she blows me kisses.
i swear i can feel them through the foggy glass
she pulls away slowly, smiling at me as she leaves
i watch her car until it has dissapeared in the night.
without thought i instantly pray for her safety.
knowing a big chunk of moving metal holds

My home,
